Bible Society welcomes SIGNIS’ General Secretary

 

The Bible Society in Lebanon was visited by Mr. Robert Molhant, the General Secretary of SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication, on November 11, 2004. Mr. Molhant was visiting Lebanon as part of a preparatory trip for the possible holding of the International SIGNIS Assembly in Lebanon next November 2005.

Mr. Molhant, who resides in Belgium where the SIGNIS headquarters is situated, had visited the Patriarch of the Maronite Church, Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir, the President of the Lebanese Republic, General Emile Lahoud, and several clergy and officials in order to prepare the way and complete the proposal for holding the next International Assembly in Lebanon. Mr. Molhant also held a press conference at the Catholic Information Center, providing all the necessary information about SIGNIS and its activities, and explaining why Lebanon was chosen as a possible place to hold the Assembly.

As part of this trip, Mr. Molhant visited the Bible Society Center and met with the Acting General Secretary, Mr. Mike Bassous. Accompanying him was Father Samir Bou Chalhoub Head of  Christian Cinema & Television Department in the Catholic Information Center. The discussions revolved around the possible collaboration in multi-media products and the involvement of the Bible Society in the upcoming International Assembly. The guests toured the Center, visiting Bible World and the studio facilities.
