NBS interviews The Newsboys about the Youth Bible
At the moment Netherlands Bible Society is working on a project called Youth Bible in collaboration with the Evangelical Broadcasting Company (EO). It is a special Bible in the New Bible Translation with explanations and background information, maps and a changeable cover. In June this year Netherlands Bible Society was represented on the EO-Youthday, a yearly Christian event with various (international) Christian musicians and speakers. The EO-Youthday is organised by the Evangelical Broadcasting Company and had over 32.000 visitors. It is held in a soccer stadium in Arnhem. All visitors received a Youth Bible portion of Joshua and Ephesians (see photo) from Netherlands Bible Society. Peter Furler says:
‘I compare
the Bible with food. There is spiritual and physical side on a man and
woman. Both sides need to be fed so that they can grow. The Bible is the
food, the Bread of Life.
I think
that the Bible is very important for young people, because where else do
you get your opinions from?
There is
just one truth and everything that has not to do with it is not the
truth. I believe that Gods Word is the truth.
I can
guarantee you that if you trust the Word of God your life will get more
productive and you will get rest and peace.
Look to
the world, there’s so much confusion. There are many rich people who are
not happy. In the Bible you can find the great story of recovery.
The
greatest power is the blood of Jesus on the cross. The Bible says that
you can receive this power by faith. If you believe and say that Jesus
is the Lord. I follow Jesus because I believe the Bible and the
redemptive plan for humanity. The blood of Jesus was there for our
justification Many times it is so difficult to study the Bible. You can surf on the internet for hours, watch TV or read magazines but it takes so much energy to read the Bible. There’s a force that keeps us away from reading the Bible. But Jeremiah 33:3 says: “Call to me, and I will answer you; I will tell you wonderful and marvellous things that you know nothing about.” Often we do not call to Him because of the enemy who is trying to keep us away from God. But the seed need to be planted an to grow. By studying the Bible I know how the voice of God sounds.’
The Youth Bible is due to be printed in Fall 2006 and has the aim to make the Bible more understood for young people. |
